LAKE TOBA DOCUMENTARY
Samosir Island (Sumatra, Indonesia) is located in the middle of Toba lake, the largest volcanic lake in the world. It is a home for Toba Batak people. Archaic unusual traditions and contemporary beliefs still coexist here.
Loi Manurung and Elizabet Sidabutar are native Bataks. Despite the fact they are Christians, they still follow most of the Batak customs and remember the way their ancestors used to live.
Toba Batak people have their own religion, language and even calendar. Being always an isolated tribe, Bataks’ unique culture was perfectly preserved.
